City of Antwerp: 2030 climate adaptation strategy

Antea Group Belgium was appointed by the city of Antwerp to develop the 2030 climate adaptation strategy, in a consortium with Endeavours, Overmorgen and Kode.

Climate adaptation is a fact that can be found in all layers of a city, and is strongly linked to spatial policy, green and water management. With the signing of the Covenant of Mayors, the city has taken the commitment to prepare a city-broad strategy in preparation for climate change and to immediately take the necessary adaptation measures in all its current plans and processes.

In this assignment, a detailed analysis of climate change events (water, drought, heat stress, etc.) will be carried out and will be used to work towards an adaptation strategy and governance structure. This strategy will be developed with special attention to innovation, co-creation and change management.
